FuTanya: Dev Log 3


Another Update to keep me on track

I had some last-minute changes to some of the pixel art, and I just received all of that work. I also had my artist do some additional expressions and poses for some of the characters. I really want to post them here, but I want to be careful to do it properly and not waste them on another random messy update. BUUUUUUUT... Just to show that there's actually something cooking in the background, and since I've shown basically nothing, please enjoy the singular preview image of a few NPCs above.

I've been away from my PC a lot lately, so it's severely hindered my programming progress. However, I have managed to get a lot of storyboarding done for the cutscenes. In this game, I intend to blend various visual elements to help convey the importance of certain story beats as well as character emotions. I hope to further enhance the scenes by supplementing these aspects with audio effects and voice lines. The cutscenes will play out like an artist CG story while also incorporating visual elements from manga, in an effort to create a more compelling experience compared to what's seen in most VN cutscenes. Also, while I mentioned voice lines, I don't intend to fully voice the story, as I feel that even quality voice acting can ruin these sorts of experiences if there's too much of it. Instead, the voice overs will simply exist to help solidify a character in the player's mind.

Going back to the programming, I DID manage to do some work on that front as well. While it's not nearly as much progress as I'd like to report, I did some work on the final chapter (The first chapters are already complete on the programming side.)
